Colossians 2:20-23: Six versions
| (ESV) 20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— 21 “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” 22 (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? 23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh. (NIV) 20 Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules: 21 “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”? 22 These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings. 23 Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence. (NLV) 20 You have died with Christ and become dead to those old ways. Then why do you follow the old ways of worship? Why do you obey man-made rules? 21 These rules say, “You must not put your hand on this.” “Do not put this into your mouth.” “You must not put your finger on that.” 22 All these things come to an end when they are used. You are following only man-made rules. 23 It looks as if it is wise to follow these rules in an act of worship, because they are hard on the body. It looks as if they are done without pride, but they are worth nothing. They do not take away a man’s desire to sin. (NLV)

(BPT) 20 Nếu anh chị em đã chết với Chúa Cứu Thế và được giải thoát khỏi các thần linh thống trị thế gian thì tại sao anh chị em lại sống như thể mình còn thuộc về thế gian bằng cách vâng giữ những qui tắc như: 21 “Không nên ăn cái nầy,” “Không nên nếm món kia,” “Đừng đụng đến thứ nọ”? 22 Những qui tắc ấy dành cho những vật thuộc thế gian, hễ dùng xong là vô dụng. Đó là những qui tắc do loài người đặt ra và dạy dỗ thôi, 23 mới xem qua thì thấy như khôn ngoan nhưng thật ra chỉ là một phần của đạo giáo loài người. Điều 3: Để loài người có thể được đem tới và tin nhận Ngài, Đức Chúa Trời đã bày tỏ lòng nhân từ, sai các sứ đồ của Ngài tới, nhờ đó con người có thể ăn năn và đặt niềm tin nơi Chúa Giê-xu Christ đã bị đóng đinh “Nhưng họ chưa tin Ngài thì kêu cầu sao được? Chưa nghe nói về Ngài thì làm thế nào mà tin? Nếu chẳng ai rao giảng thì nghe làm sao? Lại nếu chẳng ai được sai đi thì rao giảng thế nào (Rô-ma 10:14-15)?
Điều 4: Cơn thạnh nộ của Đức Chúa Trời giáng trần những ai không chịu tin đến Phúc Âm này. Nhưng hễ ai đã tiếp nhận Phúc Âm này mà nắm giữ lấy cứu Chúa Giê-xu bằng một đức tin sống và chân thật thì Ngài sẽ giải cứu người ấy khỏi cơn thạnh nộ của Đức Chúa Trời và khỏi sự hư mất và ban cho người ấy được sự sống đời đời.
