Điều 18: Đối với những ai còn tỏ vẻ không hài lòng trước ân điển nhưng không của sự lựa chọn và nghiêm khắc công bình của điều luật vứt bỏ, chúng ta cùng với Vị Sứ Đồ để trả lời họ như sau: “Nhưng hỡi ngươi, ngươi là ai, mà dám cãi lại cùng Đức Chúa Trời?” (Rô-ma 9:20). Chúng ta cũng trích lời của Chúa Christ: “Ta há không có phép dùng của cải ta theo ý muốn ta sao?” (Ma-thi-ơ 20:15) và do đó, với lòng ngưỡng mộ thánh thiện đối với những sự bí nhiệm này, chúng ta đồng thanh lớn tiếng với Vị Sứ Đồ mà rằng: “Ôi! Sâu nhiệm thay là sự giàu có, khôn ngoan, và thông biết của Đức Chúa Trời! Sự phán xét của Ngài nào ai thấu được, đường nẻo của Ngài nào ai hiểu được! Vì ai biết ý tưởng Chúa, ai là kẻ bàn luận của Ngài? Hay là ai cho Chúa trước, đặng nhận lấy điều gì Ngài báo lại? Vì muôn vật đều là từ Ngài, bởi Ngài, và hướng về Ngài. Vinh hiển cho Ngài đời đời vô cùng. Amen.” (Rô-ma 11:33-36).

Replacing our assumptions with God’s love
‘The Christian life, from one angle, is the long journey of letting our natural assumption about who God is, over many decades, fall away, being slowly replaced with God’s own insistence on who he is. This is hard work. It takes a lot of sermons and a lot of suffering to believe that God’s deepest heart is “merciful and gracious, slow to anger.” The fall in Genesis 3 not only sent us into condemnation and exile. The fall also entrenched in our minds dark thoughts of God, thoughts that are only dug out over multiple exposures to the gospel over many years. Perhaps Satan’s greatest victory in your life today is not the sin in which you regularly indulge but the dark thoughts of God’s heart that cause you to go there in the first place and keep you cool toward him in the wake of it.’

Những bậc cha mẹ tin kính không cần phải nghi ngờ gì về sự lựa chọn và cứu rỗi mà con cái họ được hưởng. Đức Chúa Trời lấy làm vui lòng khi kêu gọi con cái họ ra khỏi cuộc sống này, ngay từ khi chúng còn thơ ấu.
