Faithfulness, Missions (and Speed?)
- ‘When the pace and fruit of our work didn’t meet expectations, we began to wonder what we were doing wrong. We had been taught that if our approach didn’t lead to a church-planting movement, then we should change what we’re doing. But maybe, we thought, some ministry locations are more difficult, some peoples more resistant, some mission fields harder than others? An influential movement leader told us from the stage at a worldwide leader’s meeting that such is not the case. “There is no hard ground,” he said. That left one other possibility: we were the problem.’

Calvinistic Baptist vs Reformed Baptist: Are they the same?
The short answer is no. Here are some details that mark what reformed Baptist means that the podcast explains. (Time stamp: 21:13)
- Confessional (Bible alone; confessions are subordinate but give good summation of a group’s beliefs about key biblical teachings).
- Law of God (10 commandments [including sabbath]; universally binding standard; John Calvin’s third use of law).
- Covenant theology (this serves as the overarching lens: covenant of works, covenant of redemption, covenant of grace).
- Regulative principle (which says that the elements of worship that are not commanded in the Bible are forbidden in public worship; the-baby-baptizing wing does not consistently apply the regulative principle).
- Doctrine of Christian liberty (freedom from sin; can now obey Christ; Christian liberty is the main doctrinal fruit of reformed theology; it’s founded on the God’s law) [Christian liberty flows from the four marks above–confessional, law of God, covenant theology, regulative principle].
